Science Brewing Roaster · Halmstad

Become your own roastery

Your own bags over the counter, coffee that was roasted yesterday, and no supplier deciding what you serve.

Science Brewing Roaster sits on the counter, runs on a dedicated 10 A circuit and cleans the smoke inside the machine. No chimney, no duct, no building work.

Why roast your own

This is not mainly about saving money. It is about what you are. A café that roasts its own sells its own coffee, with its own name on the bag, at a price you set. The smell is in the room. The machine is visible. Guests ask about it.

Until now that took a roastery: premises with a chimney, a duct through the roof, a lease that allows it, and someone who knows how to roast. That is the threshold we have removed.

We roast our own production on the same machine, in Halmstad. It stands in an ordinary room, on an ordinary counter.

Scan, fill, roast

The green coffee in the hopper. The machine does the rest.
  1. Scan the QR code on the green coffee in the app. The roast profile comes with the coffee.
  2. Pour the beans into the hopper. It takes about ten seconds.
  3. Press start, at the machine or remotely from the app.
  4. After about 15 minutes there is 1.2 kg of freshly roasted coffee in the container under the machine.

No screen, no keypad, no dials that can be set wrong. Anyone on the staff can start a batch. In batch mode three batches sit in different stages at once: in the hopper, in the drum and in the cooler.

Gröna vågen and Lindas ekocafé roast their own coffee on a Science Brewing Roaster. Pio Bar & Restaurang in Halmstad roasts on site in their own premises.

We publish quotes from them once they have approved the words themselves. We do not invent reviews, and we do not state how many machines are out there.

Risks, and how we handle them

Wifi is required

Without internet no new roast starts. A roast already under way always finishes. In a basement room without coverage you will need an access point.

A dedicated 10 A circuit is required

If the socket shares a circuit with the dishwasher, an electrician solves it. That is the most common extra cost, and the only one we cannot predict for you.

Heat and smell in the room

The machine gives off heat, and the plume is mostly water vapour but smells of coffee. In a small room without ventilation you will notice it.

Registration with the food authority

Roasting for sale is food production and must be registered with your local food authority. The food safety plan template is included as the basis, but the registration is yours to make.

Unattended operation

Ask your insurer before letting the machine roast with nobody in the building. The answer differs between companies.

→ All of this is on the installation page too

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to rebuild the premises?

No. No chimney, no duct, no water connection and no drain. What may be needed is an electrician if no 10 A circuit is free.

How much can we roast?

At 10 A up to 1.2 kg of green coffee per batch in about 15 minutes, which is 4.8 kg an hour. At 8 A up to 800 g per batch.

Do we need to know how to roast?

No. The profile comes with the coffee via the QR code. Manual mode and advanced features are available as an option for those who want to steer themselves.

What is not included?

Registration with your local food authority, which you do yourself with the food safety plan as the basis, and the container you collect the roasted beans in.

Can we try it first?

Yes. You can run the machine in your own business for six months and decide afterwards. Ask us and we will go through how it works.

Ready to become your own roastery?

A short meeting is enough to see whether the machine suits your premises and your volume. We would rather say no early than sell a machine that ends up unused.
