Your own roastery in the café, in the space you already have

Your own bag over the counter, and coffee that was roasted yesterday.

Your own roastery wherever there is a free 10 A circuit. Compact, single-phase 230 V with a current limit adjustable from 8 to 16 A, smoke cleaning without an afterburner, no chimney. A food safety plan template for coffee roasteries is included, in Swedish — registering with your local food authority is up to you.

Do you recognise this?

You buy roasted coffee and pay for flavour that has already faded

The coffee was roasted three weeks ago on someone else’s premises. It is drinkable, but it is not what you would serve if you could choose the day yourself.

You have wanted to sell your own bag but had nothing to fill it with

A bag over the counter is the simplest add-on sale a café has. All it needs is for the coffee to be yours.

You have looked at roasting yourselves and stopped at the premises

A chimney, a duct and a conversation with the landlord. That is where most café roasting projects end, not at the machine.

Freshly roasted, from your own machine.

How it works for you

Green coffee in the hopper. The machine does the rest.
Where it goesIn front of guests or in a spot of its own. 70 × 30 cm of counter space, 40 cm high, about 30 kg. About 30 cm clear on the left-hand side while running.
What it needsA dedicated 10 A circuit on standard 230 V. No chimney, no duct, no water connection. Wi-Fi.
Who does whatStaff fill the hopper and scan the QR code on the green coffee. Ten seconds. Nobody needs to be a roaster.
How much it makes1.2 kg of green coffee per batch in about a quarter of an hour at 10 A, so 4.8 kg an hour. Plan for about 12 kg between two interventions, not for a daily maximum.

Do the maths

A café serving a hundred cups of batch brew a day uses about 375 kg of roasted coffee a year. What you pay for that today, and what the same volume costs as green coffee, is the whole calculation.

Use your own numbers: what you pay per kilo today, how many kilos you use per month, and what you would charge for a bag over the counter. The calculator on the home page does the rest and shows the result straight away — no form before the answer.

Proof: Lindas Garage & Gröna vågen

We have cafés roasting on the machine, both for their own use and to sell coffee. It becomes a unique experience for guests. Gröna vågen has had several reviews praising the coffee — "Maten 5 av 5 – kaffet 10 av 5" (the food 5 out of 5, the coffee 10 out of 5) — and comments such as "ingen mjölk och inget socker till det här kaffe – det är så gott som en efterrätt" (no milk and no sugar with this coffee, it is as good as a dessert). Lindas Garage runs events with the roaster to draw interest and sell bags of their own coffee.

Compare before you decide

Science Brewing Roaster or Bellwether Shop Roaster

The other ventless machine in its class, and the difference in the electrical circuit.

Can your premises take a coffee roaster without a chimney?

Eight points on the circuit, heat, humidity and the authorities.

This is not for you if

  • Your brewing equipment is on loan against volume from your coffee supplier
  • You pay less than about €14 per kilo today
  • You have no stable internet connection where the machine would stand
  • You use less than about 20 kg of roasted coffee a month

If any of the above applies to you, say so in the form. We would rather say no early than sell a machine that ends up unused.

Frequently asked questions

Can it stand in the serving area?

Yes. The smoke is cleaned inside the machine in four steps: cyclone, water wash, HEPA and activated carbon, and what you see is mostly water vapour from the beans. Seeing and smelling coffee being roasted on site is an experience. The machine works in front of guests — just bear in mind that it makes noise and gives off aroma at times. An alternative is to give it its own accessible spot where it really stands out.

Do we need an environmental permit?

It depends on the country and the volume. In Sweden, for example, notification is only required above 100 tonnes a year, whichever machine you choose. Ask your local authority.

Do we need to register with the authorities?

Yes. Roasting is food production. If you already run a café, notify the change to your local food authority. A food safety plan template is included, in Swedish — the registration is up to you.

How much time does it take each day?

Ten seconds to fill the hopper, ten to start. The water is changed about every tenth roast, the chaff emptied every 5–10 kg. Nobody needs to stand by the machine while it roasts.

Will it work for you?

Tell us what you run and how you buy coffee today. We will tell you what the machine needs from your premises and what it costs — including when the answer is that it does not pay off.
