Comments on the report
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you use it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in connection with your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract all location data from images on the website.
Cookies
To manage cookies and similar technologies (tracking pixels, tags and so on) we use the consent tool Complianz. You choose which categories you accept in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time via the “Manage consent” link at the bottom of the page.
The legal basis for the processing of personal data in this context is Article 6 (1) point c and Article 6 (1) point f of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our legitimate interests consist of the processing of cookies and similar technologies and the related consents.
The provision of personal data is a contractual requirement or necessary for the conclusion of a contract. You are not obliged to provide personal data. If you do not provide your personal data, we will be able to process your consents.
If you leave a comment on our website, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also create several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days and screen options cookies last for one year. If you choose “Remember me”, your login will continue for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be deleted.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not contain any personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this website may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in exactly the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we keep your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are kept indefinitely. This is so that we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of keeping them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Site administrators can also view and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this website, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
Your data is sent
Visitor comments can be checked through an automatic spam detection service.
Advertising and measurement
We advertise with Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). If you accept marketing cookies in our cookie banner, we use the services below. If you say no, they are not used for you, and you can change your choice at any time via the “Manage consent” link at the bottom of the page.
Google Ads and Google Analytics. We measure which ads lead someone to send a form, book a meeting or buy. Before you have answered the cookie banner, Google’s tag only sends anonymous signals without cookies (Google Consent Mode).
Enhanced conversions (Google). When you send a form, your email address and phone number are sent to Google in encrypted form (SHA-256). The purpose is to see whether the form came from an ad. Google uses the data only to match it against ad clicks.
The Meta pixel and Conversions API. We send the same events (for example “form sent”) to Meta both from your browser and from our server, so that Meta can count them once. From the server we send your IP address, details of your browser, Meta’s cookies (_fbp, _fbc) and your email address and phone number encrypted (SHA-256).
Campaign details in forms. When you send a form, we store how you came to us: the ad click id (gclid, fbclid), the campaign name and the page you landed on. We use it to see which ads bring enquiries, and we may upload it, encrypted, to Google and Meta to measure which enquiries led to a meeting or an order.
Customer lists. We may upload encrypted email addresses of existing customers to Google and Meta, so as not to show them ads or to reach similar businesses. You can object to this at any time via hello@sciencebrewing.com.
Legal basis: your consent (cookies and pixels) and our legitimate interest in following up our marketing (campaign details in forms and customer lists). Retention: campaign details in forms are kept while the matter is ongoing, for at most 24 months. Recipients: Google Ireland Ltd and Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. Transfers to the USA take place under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Calculator and meeting booking
The calculator “What size coffee roaster do you need?” What you enter in the calculator is stored by us without any link to you: the numbers, the result, which button you click, the page language, whether you use a phone or a computer, which website you came from and any campaign names in the address. We store no IP address, no cookies and no names or email addresses. From ad clicks we store only that there was a click id, not the id itself. The purpose is to see which volumes visitors calculate and to improve the calculator. The data is deleted after 24 months.
To stop abuse, the number of requests per visitor over one hour is counted using a one-off value derived from the IP address. The value is not stored in the log and disappears after one hour. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in protecting the service.
Meeting booking in Calendly. When you book a meeting, Calendly (Calendly LLC, USA) opens in a window on the page. Calendly sets its own cookies and receives what you write in the booking. If you come from the calculator, your volume and result are filled in for you, and the campaign name in the address is passed on. You can change or remove it before you book. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in booking and preparing the meeting you ask for. Transfers to the USA take place under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
