The Eagle Monte Carmelo coffee is our interpretation of a classic flavor profile from a classic region: Cerrado Mineiro. Our goal with this coffee is to maintain a consistent profile from batch to batch and year after year, making this coffee something you can rely on all year round.
This batch comes from Andrea Ribeiro Silva’s Fazenda Aragão farm as part of our Café Delas program. Café Delas was created to help women farmers access the resources, knowledge and voices they need to maximize the potential of their business. Every Café Delas coffee is 100% sourced from
The region
Coffee began to be grown in Cerrado Mineiro in the 1970s by farmers from Paraná and São Paulo. Through a technique that corrects the acidity of the soil (liming) and irrigation, large-scale cultivation has become possible. The area has around 4 500 farmers who cultivate a total area of 210 000 hectares. Cerrado Mineiro has a dry climate during the harvest period, which means that the coffee is less affected by moisture after harvest, allowing for a consistent drying process. The region, which includes a total of 55 municipalities, achieved designation of origin in 2013 and was the first region in the country to receive this recognition.
Quote from Andreia Ribeiro Silva
“Our family has been in the coffee farming business for generations, from great-grandmother to great-great-grandchildren, all in coffee farming. In times of crisis, it is important to add value to our product, so we have constantly sought to adapt and improve, both in the cultivation and in the finishing process. Our priority is to produce quality coffee while always taking care of the environment and the well-being of our employees.
I started helping my father with the farm management after my mother’s death. I work with the administrative part of the farm, with payments, purchases and all farm controls. Now I want to learn more about finishing activities and the coffee preparation process to improve our management and make our coffee even more special.”
